The mini Kovakkai cucumber is also known as the “Ivy Gourd” because of its creeping ivy-like growing habits. Kovakkai originates from Southeast Asia. Unlike sweet English cucumbers Kovakkai grows well in hot and humid climates like here in South Florida. In addition to tasting great Kovakkai is known to have essential vitamins like A and C and the health-enhancing phytonutrient like beta-carotene. This particular phytonutrient is known to help fight early aging and cancer.  Vitamin A is essential for good eyesight while Vitamin C is good for boosting the immune system which helps ward off illnesses like the common cold and flu.

This is just one of the many crops that we grow in the Organic Garden here at Hippocrates and deliver to the kitchen for the benefit of our guests. Come to Hippocrates to enjoy the freshest, healthiest and best food ever!
