So often we find ourselves at a loss when it comes to assisting in remedying such a large problem as Earth pollution. Yet, each of us plays a significant role in the process of clean-up. Often, the obvious appears to be the physical matter that clutters our air, water and land, but our true effort must be placed in changing our minds and hearts when it comes to usage of resources and the way we discard them.

Recently, Gorbachov was made president of an international organization for environment clean-up that has key experts in many fields along with religious and spiritual leaders as participants. When here in the United States addressing the students at John Hopkins University he said: "The most important issue that the human race faces today is pollution, it is the factor that brings all people from all parts of the globe together as a loving and caring humanity". His vision is one I would like to share. Historically, we have seen that when people face a crisis that goodness seems to prevail. How then will we alert those millions of unconscious people that do not understand the significance of this problem and the fragility of our global atmosphere? Too often events have to become compounded before the message reaches the ears of the less aware. This unfortunately, is happening at a great speed. Soon, it will be time for us to hold each others hands and act in a positive and direct manner.

Al Gore in his book Earth in the Balance articulately wove the words together taking the reader down the path discussing the potato famine in Ireland and how devastating it was to lose thousands of people. You as the reader started to think of the magnitude of that loss. Reading on, he makes the point that today on a daily basis, we lose forty thousand children to starvation which is far more than the entire potato famine killed. The reason for this misuse of our land resources and food choices that are neither nourishing or environmentally sound.

Years ago, I was involved in a third world project feeding the hungry in both Egypt and India. We were purchasing surplus wheat from the United States at $1.00 per fifty pounds. Through germination, we were able to produce ten times the quantity, equaling 500 pounds of food. Is there no sense in the world today?

Here at Hippocrates Wellness we would like to offer you a 5 step program in participating in personal and global environmental change. These are ideas that continue to work in the lives of the action-oriented.

  1. Creation: The vision of a healthy planet and never let down until you reach your goal.
  2. Action: Every action that one becomes involved in must not end until results occur. Create your vision- plan your action!
  3. Perseverance: To persevere through the resistance that one has from people with the idea of right and the idea of wrong. Continue in spite of that resistance. Their perception is the very reason most of our problems exist.
  4. Love: At all times, try to have compassion and love in all areas of your life.
  5. Responsibility: Take responsibility for your vision, for your actions, for your perseverance, for your love and for the faith you have in your ability to accomplish your creation.
  6. In the past, the human race has achieved many great victories. It is now time to reach the greatest achievement of taking back our planet by absolute and total commitment to the process of change. There is no greater job today than that of recovery. Recovery on a personal and planetary level. When one commits to this endeavor, they will always achieve the desired goal. It is the law of physics that where there is a great need, there is also a great opportunity for success. Here at Hippocrates Wellness, we strive to empower people to develop the inner strength it takes to reach their optimum life. Reach deeply into your hearts and minds and bring yourself to such a place of peace that outward from us, the same results may occur.
