What Your Eyes Reveal About Your Health

Iridology is the “study of the iris, particularly of its color, markings, changes, etc., as associated with disease.” This according to the twenty-seventh edition of Dorland’s Illustrated Medical Dictionary: “The word “iris”, like so many words in medicine, stems from the Greek and means “rainbow”.” Another translation is “halo.” The iris surrounds the pupil of the eye and might easily be thought of as a kind of halo encircling it. More descriptively, however, it is a rainbow because of its colors.

Your iris is your personal rainbow. The precept of iridology is that valuable information concerning a person’s health and well-being can be obtained by studying this rainbow.

It is very important to mention that information from the irides can be obtained quickly, painlessly, and in-expensively. That in itself ought to gain everyone’s attention! Furthermore, a practitioner skilled in iris analysis can glean this information using nothing more than a simple, hand-help light source and a small magnifying lens. Expensive and complex equipment is not necessary to read an iris, although such apparatus is available for the serious, practicing iridologist and iridology researcher.

They say that there is nothing new under the sun. Maybe there isn’t. But sometimes it takes a long time, even thousands of years, for people to re-discover things. Such is the case with iridology. The idea of iridology, if not its practice, is nearly 2,000 years old, possibly even older. The idea is found in the Bible. In the sixth chapter of the book of St. Matthew, verse twenty two, we read “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” Using iridology, we can see how the “purity,” or “integrity,”, or the iris reflects the condition of tissues everywhere in the body.

The eyes communicate in a special way for the iridologist. Iris color, structure, and special markings are interpreted by the practitioner to attain valuable information about the patient as a whole. Iris analysis is about communication. Your body communicates with the iridologist using the iris as a vehicle of transmission. There is possibly more truth than we realize in the saying that the eye is the most complicated tissue in the whole body.

The Nutrition Connection

It has been my experience that the greatest single therapeutic regimen one can employ is the art and science of nutrition. There is no discipline anyone can name that would not be improved with the addition of nutritional therapy. Nutrition and iris analysis go together like “horse and carriage”. What the iridologist usually sees when he views the irides is a graphic depiction of the results of long-term nutritional deficiency. I do not believe there is any disease that is not associated with a nutritional deficiency.

Most people think of nutrition and diet as concerning just food and drink. It is much more. What about a diet of friends? Friend influence health more than you may realize. How about a diet of music? Good music nourishes every cell of the body. A diet of color? What about thoughts? What a person finds himself thinking about is his food for thought. Diet is also the air we breathe, the sights we see, the aromas we smell, and everything we touch. Our diet is the sum total of our life experiences. It is all we take in and absorb, by whatever medium. Nutrition is how our life is nurtured, mentally, physically, and spiritually.

The science of iridology should no longer be overlooked. Iridology needs to be taken seriously, the same way that nutrition, of late, has begun to be given the consideration it so rightfully deserves. The pioneers who gave their time, talent, and energy in the development and clinical practice of iridology and nutrition can no longer be ignored.
