We have to drink enough pure water daily just to maintain our fluid balance. If we don not, we may impair every single aspect of our bodily functions. A 2% loss of extra cellular water may decrease your energy as much as 20 percent.

Proper water intake is the key to maintaining proper body weight. If we do not drink enough water the body cannot metabolize fat.

The international Sports Medicine Institute works with professional athletes around the world. The ISI has developed a formula for minimal water intake which can be used by athletes and non athletes alike.

They suggest a daily intake of ½ once of water per pound of body weight for inactive people and 2/3 ounce per pound of body weight for athletes and other active people.

Your water intake should be spread judiciously throughout the day.

The movement of foodstuffs throughout our bodies is impossible without water. Over 99% of all chemical reactions depend on water.

Our kidneys remove self generated wastes such as uric acid, urea and lactic acid. In order to be eliminated in our bodies these wastes must be dissolved in water. If we do not drink enough water, these wastes cannot be eliminated efficiently.

Our bodies are composed of trillions of cells. No two cells actually touch each other; they are separated by a watery fluid which acts as a mediator between the cells.

We need water daily in order to live. Infants drink 1/3 of their total extra cellular water content every dy. Adults daily consume about one ninth of their total extra cellular water content. This means that our entire extra cellular fluid (the fluid in which our cells float) is replaced approximately every nine days.

At one time, we could drink pure demineralized rain water. Worldwide pollution has put an end to the safe collection of rain water for drinking. We have to make our own rain water by steam distillation or reverse osmosis processes.
