Hippocrates Wellness TripAdvisor Rating

We used to believe that our inherited DNA and genetic weaknesses were the most important determining factor in our health, longevity and disease. We also believed that we had very little control over the chronic illnesses that we suffered from and that our path was essentially pre-determined by our cells and the unique genetic code they passed on from the generations before us.

Today, our knowledge of the human body has expanded and our views on how to address disease reversal has evolved.

Unlike what we were taught to believe, we are NOT slaves to our genes and we have so much more control over our health and healing than we ever thought was possible!

It turns out that what we eat, think and do every day plays the biggest role in our health and that by modifying our diet, stress levels, sun exposure, sleeping habits, activity levels and thought patterns, we can not only protect ourselves from any genetic predispositions we may have, but we can also manipulate our genes to create the optimal environment within our body to reverse disease.

This ground-breaking concept is called epigenetics and in the last decade, even the more conventional approaches to health like allopathy, modern and integrative medicine have been embracing the importance of epigenetics in treating disease. (The American Diabetes Association published an article in 2009 on epigenetics and its relevance and benefits in treating Type 2 diabetes)

We now know that our less-desirable genes are just reacting to the circumstances we place them under and they can only be triggered or cause disease, if we make improper lifestyle and dietary choices long-term.

1. Poor Diet

The food we eat is the food we wear, but not only in our appearance. THE FOOD we eat contains tons of bacteria, it has a genetic DNA, an energetic blueprint, a FREQUENCY that it transmits to our body and this ENERGETIC FREQUENCY can change and manipulate the way our body functions.

Let’s keep in mind that diabetes is a digestive and hormonal disease and it is generally the result of a very tired and overused pancreas. This means that if we want to support the pancreas in repairing itself and get it to work normally again, then we need to start eating the right foods and more importantly, avoiding the wrong ones!

A poor diet can create a dangerous lack of essential nutrients that we need to thrive. Plant minerals, essential vitamins and trace elements, protective antioxidants and delicate phyto-nutrients are the foundation to a properly working body. They are not optional!

For example, it is very common to find deficiencies in chromium, magnesium, B vitamins, calcium and glutathione (a detox nutrient) in a patient with diabetes.

We NEED all of these nutrients and MORE in order to grow new cells and heal! We need these nutrients to build our hormones, so that our brain, digestion, metabolism, glands and organs work at their highest capacity.

Not only is the Standard American Diet low in nutrients, but it is often heavily cooked and heated, destroying vital enzymes and bacteria, which help us to digest the food. We need enzymes and beneficial bacteria in the gut to survive!

The right foods, like raw vegetables, sprouts, fresh vegetable juices and plenty of high fiber nourishment help provide these necessary enzymes and good bacteria.Once your body is getting the nutrients it needs, it no longer goes into panic or inflammation mode, and instead it goes right into healing mode. The right approach will not only allow you to eat abundant amounts of delicious foods, but will easily allow your body to finally shed this disease for good!

Before we get into the other main causes of diabetes, we just want to let you know that for the last 60 years, Hippocrates Wellness has been following the most powerful principals of health and wellness to help people from around the globe in achieving and maintaining their most abundant health! Our extensive and unique Life Transformation Program, with the help of qualified nutrition experts, personal trainers and dedicated medical staff, helps address the root causes of diabetes to trigger the most effective and successful return to vibrant health.

Let’s take a look at the second main cause of diabetes!

2. Lack Of Exercise

We’ll be honest with you, the food you eat is roughly 80% responsible for any successful health results. That said, physical activity is still super important, especially if you want to reverse your diabetes. Here’s why!

Diabetes is a sugar metabolism problem which basically means that your blood sugar is too high and the fastest way to lower blood sugar quickly is to use or ‘burn up’ that sugar with exercise! The body stores excess sugar from the digested food in the liver and muscles in the form of something called glycogen. Nature is incredible and designed it so that this glycogen in our muscles is a perfect backup energy source in case there is ever a food shortage or we need extra energy for essential physical activity.

The issue is that most of us are eating much more than we are moving, and as a result, our excess glycogen is overflowing into the bloodstream, causing high blood sugar, a tired pancreas, and diabetes!

By working out regularly, at least 30-60 minutes a day, you can use up that excess glycogen, creating a demand for sugar in the body and help to improve your blood sugar sensitivity, while also burning through some of that excess sugar in the blood! The right exercises tone and strengthen the body, as well as boosting our levels of happy brain hormones. Not only will working out help send your diabetes packing, but you’ll also be looking and feeling better than you ever have before!

Let’s look at the final main cause of diabetes.

3. Lack of the right education

We’ve all heard that excessive alcohol, stressing about work, staying up all night and guzzling coffee while binging on Chinese takeout are activities that should be avoided.

Most of us have even heard that plastics can disrupt hormones and that there are scary levels of toxic chemicals in our makeup, beauty products, processed food and even in the air we breathe from air fresheners, air conditioning, molud exposure, paint and the off-gassing of fire retardants and varnishes from the furniture, clothes and bedding we buy.

Thanks to Facebook, we are also equally exposed to the fact that the oceans are polluted, crops are genetically engineered to make their own herbicides, seafood is oozing with heavy metals, meat is loaded with antibiotics, wine and dried fruit is being preserved by nasty sulphites, and our fresh fruits and veggies are being sprayed with poisonous pesticides. This stuff makes it far past our plates, and these toxins embed themselves into our lives, our bodies and our cells!!

To be optimally healthy, it really helps to not just know about these things, but more importantly, to know what you can do about them!

There is no point panicking about what we cannot control, but knowledge is power and with the right information, you can do amazing things to protect yourself, and your family, from these toxins.

Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes

The main causes of both types of diabetes are similar and both are very responsive to diet and lifestyle changes.

Type 1 diabetes:

Know that this disease can absolutely be improved, and in some cases, even fully eliminated.

By definition this diagnosis means that your body isn't regulating it's blood sugar on it's own.

Type 1 diabetics may have inherited this condition in utero, due to the lifestyle and dietary choices of their mothers including exposure to environmental toxins, any untreated digestive imbalance, consumption of a nutritionally poor diet or engagement in sub-optimal lifestyle choices which can cause children to be born with pancreatic insufficiency or failure.

Others are not born with type 1 diabetes and instead, develop it as children or early adults. This is directly linked to that child’s diet and lifestyle and can be more easily addressed with the correct nutrition. It is also important to consider the length of time a diabetic has been on synthetic blood sugar drugs when assessing healing ability or time-frame. The longer we are reliant on medications, and especially if we are combining these medications with a poor diet and poor gestational development in utero, the more lazy and inefficient the pancreas becomes, affecting the pancreas’s ability to regenerate itself!

Type 2 diabetes:

In some cases this disease can absolutely be improved, and in most cases, even fully eliminated.

By definition this diagnosis means that your body isn't regulating it's blood sugar in the way it should or it's unable to break down the amount of sugar that is being consumed.

Type 2 diabetics may not have inherited this condition and it is more likely that it is life style related.  Food choices is often considered to be the top of the list although excess weight and lack of exercise are close behind.  High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol are also considered to be linked to diabetes.

The National Diabetes Statistics Report, 2017 states that over 30.3 Million people were diagnosed with diabetes in 2015, 95% of which were type 2.

Although people with type 2 diabetes may not show symptoms for many years, the body's inability to keep up with the amount of sugar or toxins in someone's diet can continually take it's toll on the pancreas.  Some people aren't even aware that they have the disease until serious symptoms develop.

Regardless of your individual circumstance, the human body is incredibly resilient when given the right opportunity to repair itself, unbelievable things can happen! It is always worth fighting for your health, and we can often recover much more completely than we even thought possible!
